So far, no attempt has been made to create a good visual design for C-LARA. Members of the project who are sensitive to these matters (you know who you are) have not been slow to point out that the prototype looks really ugly.
I agree with the critics, they are right. But there was a reason for delaying work on the design aspects. ChatGPT-4 is central to the project and responsible for most of the coding. Where design is concerned, there was an obvious reason why it was going to have trouble doing a good job: it can’t see. But now that’s about to change. As I write, ChatGPT-4V, the vision-enabled version of ChatGPT-4, is being rolled out. A couple of people in the project can already access it from their accounts; I’m not yet able to do that, but I expect the wave-front will reach me sometime during the coming week.
When we have an AI collaborator with eyes, I’m hoping that things will be quite different. Given that Chat already has strong web skills and a lot of common sense, my expectation is that it’ll be able to do a good job of creating a visually attractive and ergonomic layout. It’ll be very interesting to see if these predictions turn out to be accurate.
I will post an update as soon as there’s something to report.
