Phonetic texts
Claudia wondered if we could use the phonetic text functionality for Romanian. There is a phonetic lexicon available at ipa-dict, so it seemed straightforward, but in actual fact I found I had to fix a number of small issues.
I have now installed the phonetic lexica for Romanian and Icelandic, and things are more or less working – I created sample texts for both languages, and Claudia created another one for Romanian. But we still need to improve things. In particular,
- The infrastructure for editing and approving aligned phonetic lexicon entries is set up so that only the language master for the language in question can perform this activity. It’s not clear that this is what we want. Also, it’s not possible to revise an aligned entry a second time once it’s been approved.
- People creating phonetic texts need to be alerted to the existence of existing audio for the phonemes, so that they can attach it.
- Audio which is uploaded in .wav form should be automatically converted to .mp3.
We should discuss these issues.
Alphabet book for Drehu
Pauline has updated audio for the phonemes, so now you can step through words a sound at a time. The draft version is as before posted at
https://c-lara.unisa.edu.au/accounts/content/6/
We are still waiting for Fabrice to create the rest of the word audio.
Exporting and importing projects
The exporting and importing functionality is now installed on the UniSA and Heroku servers. You can export a zipfile from one server and then upload it on the other. I have used this to install my twelve C-LARA projects from the AMTA paper.
Credit functionality
Chat and I are rationalising the functionality that keeps track of the credit used to pay for OpenAI calls:
- We started by fixing an embarrassing bug: previously, it was possible to avoid paying for OpenAI calls if you deleted the project where they had been made. This is no longer the case.
- We have also added a function to allow transfer of credit from one’s own account to another user account. This sends an email with a confirmation code, which has also let us check that C-LARA email is working correctly on the UniSA server.
- Finally, we will integrate Stripe or a similar payment service to allow people to add money to their accounts using a credit card. I hope to have this up and running next week.
Minor issues
I fixed the bug which was stopping images from being displayed when you accessed a project without being logged in.
